Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do Designated Drivers (DD's) get free or reduced cost tickets to the Festival?
A: We do not have a reduced rate ticket for designated drivers. We used to allow DD's into the festival for free, but that privilege was abused as we continually witnessed people passing off drinks to their DD's and basically using their 'DD' as a way for another person to attend the festival for free without paying for a ticket. Due to the widespread abuse, we had to discontinue this perk for our DD's.
We suggest if you are a DD for a group that the group chips in to pay for your ticket, as the cost of a ticket, split up is less than having to get a cab or a DUI. You will still receive a glass and tickets for samples, so you can distribute your tickets for samples to your friends as you wish. We do offer our DD's free soft drinks and water at the concession stand at the festival.
Q: How can I avoid the online Ticketmaster Fees?
A: Advance tickets can be purchased at the Sullivan Arena Box Office and NO fees apply. Tickets can also be purchased at the door with no additional service fees.
Q: What is the difference between the Evening Festival Sessions and the Afternoon Connoisseur Session?
A: The Connoisseur’s Session at the Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival is your chance to try some truly unique beers and barleywines. During this session you’ll sample rare, limited production and specialty brews from some of the best breweries around. Highlighted are specialty beers from AK craft brewers and the competitors from the annual barleywine competition including the winners. This session is capped in attendance for a smaller setting. Proceeds from this session benefit the Brewers Guild of Alaska, The Lions Club, and American Diabetes Association.
Q: If a purchase a ticket for the Saturday afternoon Connoisseur Session can I stay for the Saturday Evening Session?
A: No. Each session requires a unique ticket to attend. You cannot go to one session and stay for the next session.
